Answers from Romania about the ideal city and art

THE IDEAL CITY

  • As far as concerns the architectonical side, the Renaissance manifested only in some cities in Transylvania.

  • There are exclusively isolated buildings and squares in the western city of Timisoara, Cluj and Oradea.

  • The industrial revolution didn't manifest but very late in the Romanian territory. It wasn't until the end of the 19th that the city development started to be influenced by massive industrialization.

  • As yet there have been no projects about the "ideal city"

  • The "ideal city" should be open to trade but definitely cut any industrial platforms. It should provide access to all kinds of artistic events, to sport bases, and there should be plenty of parks for people to go out walking and and not only. Such a city has to be open to all races and religions as well as to political manifestation of all sorts

  • Are there any possibilities for young people to attend artistic activities? What kind? Have you ever attended one of them?

All young people can attend painting or singing classes. There are lectures held in high schools periodically, and they can visit museums or exhibit their creations, too.

For students who are really interested in arts, there are special courses to train them in playing a musical instrument, in in theatre playing or cinematograph.

Only two of our students attended such artistic activities: Andra who can play the violin, and Ada who has taken some artistic classes.

  • Is the artistic aspect cared only in the city center or also in the suburbs?

The suburbs generally ignore the artistic aspect.
